About this position

HOST JOB DESCRIPTION

To succeed in this role, you will need to have a positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with Front of House and Back of House employees. You are the first person a guest sees when they come in and the last person they see when they leave.
Host Responsibilities: EVERY GUEST GETS A HELLO & GOODBYE!! STAND UP STRAIGHT. ACKNOWLEDGE. ENGAGE. EYE CONTACT. Always do your very best to accommodate (or at least look it)

  • Greeting guests as they enter, and putting them on a wait list as necessary
  • Study Host FAQ handout- POLICY NEWSLETTER
  • Seating guests at tables or directing them to bars/waiting areas
    • Assume guests have never been here before.. 
    • When time allows, physically escort guests to nearest restrooms, open doors, assist with highchairs/boosters
  • Providing guests with menus and answering any initial questions
  • Assigning guests to tables they prefer if possible, while keeping table rotation in mind so that servers receive the right number of customers
  • Answering phone calls, taking reservations and answering questions.
  • Knowledge of the menu-able to answer basic questions
  • Helping out with other positions in the restaurant as needed
  • Training new hires/employees new to position
  • Bussing/spot sweeping tables to ensure wait time is minimal
  • Providing great customer service & hospitality

Host Requirements:
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
    • Holidays in our business include:
      • Sundays:
        • Mother’s Day
        • Father’s Day
        • Easter
        • Fourth of July

  • Lunch & Dinners:
    • Christmas Eve
    • New Year’s Eve
  • Ability to provide top-notch customer service in a fast-paced environment
  • A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with all restaurant staff
  • Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • Willing to follow instructions and ask questions for clarification if needed
  • Able to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system
  • Able to work in a busy restaurant environment
  • Restaurant experience is a plus
  • Communicate with managers & Headwaits regarding section changes/floor plans
  • Stay current with COURSE UPDATES
  • DO NOT SIT GUESTS AT DIRTY TABLES (or chairs)-make rounds in dining area, spot sweep
