About the Role

The Company is seeking a Head of Reactor Support Equipment Engineering, a pivotal leadership role in a groundbreaking nuclear fission startup. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of the systems that ensure the safe and efficient operation of a nuclear reactor, including reactor pool design, fluid management, and radioactive waste handling. This role demands an individual with a strong background in mechanical engineering, particularly in the areas of fluid and thermal-hydraulic systems, and a proven track record of extreme ownership over complex hardware or infrastructure systems. The Head of Reactor Support Equipment Engineering will be the founding leader of this function, starting with a subscale prototype and scaling up to full nuclear operations, all while maintaining a focus on rapid, iterative, and high-volume manufacturing processes. Applicants for this role at the company should be prepared to take on the challenge of building and leading a multidisciplinary team from the ground up, with a direct reporting line to the CEO/Chief Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline, experience in designing, analyzing, or building mechanical hardware, and a history of rapid, self-driven growth in their career. While direct nuclear or reactor support equipment experience is not required, the candidate should be capable of making design decisions with incomplete data, and be adept at pulling together multiple engineering disciplines into a cohesive system. The role is suited to a self-motivated, organized individual who is comfortable with a fast-paced, demanding work environment and is committed to the goal of revolutionizing the speed and efficiency of nuclear reactor construction.
