About the Role

The Company is seeking a Managing Director for Major Gifts in the West region. The successful candidate will be a senior fundraising manager with a strong background in major gift strategy and a proven track record of success. This leadership role involves overseeing the major gift fundraising strategy and performance for a significant geographic area, leading a team of frontline fundraisers, and directly managing a small portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years' of progressive fundraising experience, including at least 7 years' of directly managing and coaching frontline fundraisers. They should be adept at cultivating, soliciting, and closing five- and six-figure gifts, and have a deep understanding of major gift strategy, portfolio management, and moves management. Key responsibilities for the Managing Director include team leadership and management, regional major gift strategy, and cross-functional collaboration. The role requires a candidate who can build and lead effective teams, instill trust, and ensure accountability. The Managing Director will work closely with a peer in the same role to provide coordinated national coverage and will be expected to have strong ties to the local Jewish community. The position demands a strategic thinker with hands-on fundraising experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience in a national or multi-regional nonprofit organization, as well as familiarity with donor databases and CRM systems, is highly valued.
