About the Role
The Company is in search of an Associate Vice President for Excess Workers Compensation Underwriting. The successful candidate will be a senior underwriting professional with a focus on underwriting complex risk management and loss-sensitive accounts. This role is pivotal in the casualty underwriting team, requiring a high level of technical underwriting, relationship management, and portfolio influence. The AVP will be responsible for underwriting and managing a portfolio of intricate workers' compensation and casualty risks, evaluating various risk factors, and structuring program terms. Strong partnerships with brokers, distribution partners, and internal stakeholders are essential, as is the ability to drive profitable growth through disciplined underwriting and portfolio management. Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years' of commercial underwriting experience, with a significant background in workers' compensation, casualty, excess casualty, or risk management accounts. The role demands a professional with a strong understanding of underwriting structured insurance programs, the ability to analyze financials and complex risk exposures, and a proven track record in business development. The ideal candidate will have established broker relationships, excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Preferred qualifications include experience in excess workers' compensation, national accounts, large account casualty, and alternative risk programs, as well as professional designations such as CPCU and ARM.
