Graywood Fabrication is looking for a skilled and dependable Structural Welder / Fabricator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in both Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG) and have experience fitting, assembling, and welding structural components.
This position requires someone who takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail, and can work effectively both independently and as part of a crew.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural welding using FCAW (Flux Core) and GMAW (Solid Wire MIG) processes.
- Successfully complete and pass 3G and 4G structural welding tests using both FCAW and GMAW processes.
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols.
- Accurately use tape measures, squares, levels, and other measuring and layout tools.
- Measure, fit, align, and assemble parts and components prior to welding.
- Perform quality welds while maintaining proper fit-up and alignment.
- Work both inside the fabrication shop and outdoors, including during various weather conditions and seasons.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Work independently when required and communicate effectively with other members of the fabrication crew.
- Complete assigned work accurately, efficiently, and within expected timeframes.
Qualifications
- Proven proficiency in FCAW/Flux Core welding.
- Proven proficiency in GMAW/Solid Wire MIG welding.
- Ability to pass 3G and 4G structural weld tests using both welding processes.
- Strong ability to read and understand fabrication drawings and welding details.
- Proficient with a tape measure and other measuring/layout equipment.
- Experience with structural fabrication and fitting preferred.
- Experience with additional welding processes such as SMAW/Stick, GTAW/TIG, or other processes is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently both independently and with a crew.
- Must be punctual, motivated, dependable, and trustworthy.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from our shop in Raceland, Louisiana.
- Must be physically capable of performing welding and fabrication work in both shop and outdoor environments.
Work Schedule
Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM
Candidates must be dependable and able to consistently maintain the required work schedule.
