This is a great opportunity - located in the beautiful Spokane WA area working from the Fairchild AFB.  Great pay, benefits and relocation available.  The Aircraft Mechanic II – Sheet Metal performs KC-135 aircraft maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, modification, and documentation in support of organizational/intermediate/depot-level maintenance requirements at Fairchild AFB, WA with potential TDY support to other KC-135 locations as directed. The position specializes in sheet metal, aircraft structures, structural repair, corrosion-related maintenance, and related aircraft maintenance tasks.

  • Perform KC-135 aircraft structural maintenance, sheet metal repair, inspection, troubleshooting, modification, and documentation.
  • Inspect, repair, replace, and modify aircraft structures and structural components using approved technical data.
  • Perform sheet metal layout, drilling, riveting, fastening, trimming, fitting, and related aircraft structural repair tasks.
  • Support corrosion identification, prevention, treatment, and repair activities as assigned.
  • Interpret and apply technical orders, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, work instructions, and other approved technical data.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, pre-flight, thru-flight, post-flight, and inspection-related tasks as assigned.
  • Use aircraft maintenance tools, torque wrenches, micrometers, dial indicators, sheet metal brakes, shears, drills, rivet equipment, and other approved equipment as required.
  • Document maintenance actions in approved aircraft forms, records, logs, and Government maintenance systems.
  • Comply with Tool Control, FOD prevention, safety, quality, security, and local operating requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance or on-the-job training to less experienced mechanics as directed.


Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of aircraft maintenance experience on an Air Force wide-body platform, preferably KC-135, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Aircraft sheet metal, aircraft structural repair, modification, inspection, and corrosion-related experience is required.
  • Experience using aircraft technical orders, drawings, blueprints, and maintenance documentation is required.
  • A&P certification is preferred but not required.



Licenses and Security

  • Must have a valid state driver’s license when required by job assignment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess and maintain a current Secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain base access, Common Access Card, and required Government system access.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport and any required visas or travel documentation for CONUS/OCONUS TDY travel, as required by the contract or task order.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a flightline driver’s license if required.
  • Must obtain all certifications and training required to perform assigned duties.
