Bartender Position Summary

The Bartender is responsible for delivering polished, knowledgeable and personalized beverage service to members and guests of Caruso's Trattoria. The role requires strong cocktail, spirits, wine and beer knowledge, consistent recipe execution, organization, and a genuine ability to connect with members.

Bartenders maintain a clean, fully prepared bar, support both bar and dining room service, and build familiarity with member preferences while protecting privacy and discretion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Member and Guest Service
  • Greet members and guests promptly and professionally and use names appropriately when known.
  • Provide knowledgeable beverage recommendations based on member and guest preferences.
  • Recognize returning members and, when appropriate, remember beverage preferences.
  • Maintain discretion regarding member habits, preferences and conversations.
  • Monitor satisfaction and respond promptly to requests or concerns.
Beverage Preparation and Service
  • Prepare cocktails, wine, beer and non alcoholic beverages according to established recipes, portion standards and presentation specifications.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wine, beer and beverage pairings.
  • Accurately enter beverage orders into the point of sale system and prepare service bar drinks efficiently for dining room service.
  • Monitor alcohol consumption and follow responsible beverage service requirements at all times.
Bar Operations
  • Maintain proper bar mise en place before and throughout service.
  • Stock and replenish spirits, wine, beer, mixers, garnishes, glassware, ice and other bar supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all bar work areas.
  • Complete opening and closing procedures accurately.
  • Assist with inventory counts, product rotation and receiving as assigned.
  • Follow proper cash handling, member charge and payment procedures.
Teamwork and Communication
  • Communicate effectively with Servers, Hosts, culinary staff, Server Assistants and management.
  • Support dining room beverage service during peak periods without sacrificing quality or consistency.
  • Communicate low stock items, unavailable products and service concerns promptly.
Qualifications
  • Previous bartending experience in an upscale restaurant, private club, luxury hotel, resort or comparable hospitality environment preferred.
  • Strong cocktail, spirits, wine and beer knowledge.
  • Ability to execute classic and contemporary cocktails accurately and consistently.
  • Excellent verbal communication, organization and attention to detail.
  • Comfort working with point of sale systems and cash handling.
  • Must meet all legal requirements for serving alcoholic beverages in California.
  • Food Handler certification and Responsible Beverage Service certification required or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry cases of beverages, ice and bar supplies.
  • Lift approximately 40 to 50 pounds.
  • Bend, reach, stoop and work efficiently in a confined bar environment.
Schedule Expectations

Flexibility and availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays and special events based on business needs. The Club is open Tuesday through Sunday.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Hourly rate: $18.00 plus service charges
  • Benefits and eligibility will be provided in accordance with Club policy and employment status.
