About this position
Brooklyn Granary & Mill is a bakery in Gowanus, Brooklyn. We also run a wholesale stone flour milling operation and use exclusively fresh milled whole grain flour in our bakery. We source all of our grains directly from organic and regenerative farmers in the Northeast. Our bakery features these grains as well as seasonal fruits, local dairy, local meat, and other amazing regional agricultural products. We take this emphasis on sourcing and relationships to our coffee and tea as well. We work with Driftaway Coffee, whose mission is "... to build an equitable value chain by prioritizing women & minority producers" and who have amazingly unique and flavorful coffee. All of our tea comes from Anna Ye Tea. Anna is "Proudly devoted to sourcing and importing premium loose leaf teas from Việt Nam..(they) source small batch teas made by producers from different ethnic groups, each reflecting the country's terroir and local making techniques."We are looking for people who are excited to learn about and work with all of these special products that make up Brooklyn Granary & Mill. Not only a curiosity to learn but also a willingness to educate the customers is required.
This job also entails but is not limited to working eight hour shifts on your feet, making coffee, espresso, and tea drinks, selling bread and baked goods, side work, packing orders, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for customers.
Pay Rate: $17.00 per hour + tips
Schedule: Must be available weekends. Bakery hours are 7:30am - 3:30pm.
Benefits: Daily staff meal, free bread each work day, paid accrued time off based on hours worked.
