Miramar Lake Club is a private club in Thousand Oaks, California, and part of the Caruso portfolio. The Club is designed to deliver a highly personalized member experience across dining, recreation, wellness, and social programming.

Caruso's Trattoria is one of the Club's primary dining experiences and is built around warm, polished hospitality, thoughtful food and beverage service, and the level of care and consistency expected throughout the Club.

Position Summary

The Host is responsible for creating a warm, polished and organized arrival and departure experience for members and guests of Caruso's Trattoria. The role serves as a key point of contact for the dining room and requires strong communication, attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to manage reservations and seating with confidence.

Hosts are expected to recognize members, understand seating preferences when appropriate, maintain accurate reservation information, and help the service team manage dining room flow throughout each service period.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Member and Guest Service

· Greet members and guests promptly, warmly and professionally, using names appropriately when known.

· Create a genuine sense of welcome from arrival through departure.

· Maintain discretion regarding member information, preferences and conversations.

· Assist with coats, belongings, directions and other reasonable requests as appropriate.

· Thank members and guests sincerely as they depart and assist with future reservations when appropriate.

Reservations and Seating

· Manage reservations, walk ins, waitlists and seating through the reservation system.

· Maintain accurate knowledge of table assignments, server sections and dining room availability.

· Seat members and guests according to established standards, reservation notes and known preferences.

· Communicate accurate wait times and manage expectations professionally during peak periods.

· Maintain and update member preferences, special requests, celebrations and relevant dining notes as directed.

Dining Room Coordination

· Monitor table status and communicate with the service team regarding upcoming reservations and seating needs.

· Communicate VIPs, special occasions, allergies, accessibility needs and other relevant information to the appropriate team members.

· Coordinate closely with Servers, Bartenders, culinary staff and management to maintain smooth dining room flow.

· Support dining room operations when needed, including resetting tables and assisting with member requests.

Host Stand and Communication Standards

· Answer restaurant telephone calls professionally and assist with reservations and general dining inquiries.

· Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the host stand, entry area, menus and surrounding spaces.

· Ensure menus are clean, current and ready for service.

· Complete opening and closing host duties according to established procedures.

Qualifications

· Previous hosting, reservations, restaurant, private club, luxury hotel, resort or guest service experience preferred.

· Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

· Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

· Professional telephone and written communication skills.

· Comfort working with reservation and point of sale systems.

· Ability to remain calm, polished and professional during high volume service.

· Strong sense of discretion and professionalism.

· Food Handler certification required or ability to obtain within the required timeframe, if applicable to the role.

Physical Requirements

· Stand and walk for extended periods.

· Bend, reach and move throughout dining room and entry areas.

· Lift and carry menus, service materials and light supplies.

· Work comfortably in a fast paced, guest facing environment.

Schedule Expectations

Flexibility and availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays and special events based on business needs. The Club is open Tuesday through Sunday.

Compensation and Benefits

· Hourly rate: $18.00 plus tips

· Benefits and eligibility will be provided in accordance with Club policy and employment status.
